“Ω” clips on reel — How it works

A clip is more
than just a clip.

The right clip comes from the perfect alignment of three elements: the pitch (the distance between consecutive clips on the spool), the size (the clip’s height, width and thickness) and the die that closes the clip around the casing.
When these three elements are correctly matched to your product, the result is a uniform, secure and repeatable closure, with no waste, no machine downtime and no risk to product quality.
International Clip identifies each clip with a four-parameter code, so you always know exactly what you are ordering. The diagram alongside shows the three pitch profiles (P) and the full legend of the P · H · L · S parameters.

“Ω” clips on reel — The range

Three pitch variants.
Every application covered.

Pitch determines the machine and casing type the clip is designed for. We manufacture “Ω” clips on reel in three pitch variants covering the full range of casings and calibres used in the food industry.

Pitch 12

Pitch 12

Compact pitch for narrow casings and reduced calibres. Ideal where high clip density per metre is required or where machine geometry needs a shorter pitch.

Pitch 15

Pitch 15

The most widely used pitch on the market. Versatile and compatible with a wide range of fibrous, collagen and plastic casings, from 35 mm up to 85 mm calibre. The benchmark choice for most standard production lines.

Pitch 18

Pitch 18

Designed for large-calibre casings, from 40 mm up to 170 mm and beyond. The benchmark choice for heavy-duty industrial production of salami, mortadella, cooked hams and other large-format products.

Clip types

Three variants.
One for every casing.

Besides pitch and size, the right clip also depends on the casing material and the type of product. We produce three distinct variants, available for all three pitches. Hover over the icon to see the clip in the photo.y.

Standard6 ribs
Universal use
Standard
6 ribs
Six longitudinal ribs on the inner surface ensure a firm, reliable grip on plastic and fibrous casings. The most common clip in industrial sausage production.
SZSmooth
Delicate casings
SZ
Smooth
Completely smooth inner surface, without ribs. Designed for cellulosic casing that would be marked or torn by a standard clip.
TTrapezoidal
Vacuum products
T
Trapezoidal
Trapezoidal geometry that distributes closing pressure more evenly around the casing neck. Ensures an airtight seal for vacuum-packed products.

Series 1000

International Clip clips are made from 1000 series aluminium, with a purity of 99.7%. Pure 1000 series aluminium may come into contact with food in accordance with Regulations (EC) No 1935/2004 and (EC) No 2023/2006. All clips, to the extent applicable to their role as packaging components, comply with Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR). No PFAS are intentionally added or used as processing aids or surface treatments. Declarations of conformity are available on request.

High-purity aluminium
Series 1000 at 99.7%, certified by our suppliers.
Consistent hardness
No variation in material hardness from spool to spool, for identical closing force and results every time.
Dimensional accuracy
Clips that meet specified dimensions, free of burrs and corrosion-resistant. The consistency that prevents jams and irregular closures.
Regulatory compliance
Reg. (EC) No 1935/2004 and (EC) No 2023/2006 for food contact; Reg. (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR) where applicable. No intentionally added PFAS.
Always brand-new spools
Never reused. This ensures consistent clip geometry and eliminates any risk of contamination from recycled materials.
Full traceability
Every batch is traceable from raw material to finished spool, essential for food safety audits and quality documentation.
Supply security
With over one billion clips produced every year, we guarantee availability and on-time delivery even for high volumes or at short notice.
Made in Italy
Designed and manufactured in Italy, in Albairate (Milan), with over 40 years of experience in food packaging.
The catalogue

Our range of sizes
and our technical advice.

The International Clip catalogue includes both Ω clips on reel (in all the variants described) and a wide range of U clips on stick and spool (600, 700, 800 series, etc.): different sizes, pitches and profiles to meet every closure need, from craft production to high-speed industrial lines.

Choosing the right clip is not a detail. The calibre of the casing, its material and any surface treatments determine which size and profile ensure a secure, consistent closure. A wrong choice often results in irregular closures, waste and machine downtime.

That is why advice matters even more than the breadth of the catalogue. International Clip’s technicians work alongside you to choose the right clip for your casing, your machine and your product. And when the standard clip is not enough, they design one to your specifications.

Clip for you
The right clip is not always the one in the catalogue.

If your casing, your filling machine or your product requires a non-standard geometry, such as a different clip thickness, a specific rib profile, or a particular alloy or hardness, our technicians can design it.

The Clip for you service puts over 40 years of manufacturing experience to work, producing a clip precisely engineered for your application, with the same quality standard and delivery reliability as the standard range.

Here are some of the questions our customers ask us every day:

FAQ 1: Calibre
“I need to work with a casing of X mm calibre: which clip should I use?”
Each casing calibre has its own wall thickness, which determines the clip size (height H) and the die to match it with. We provide a precise recommendation for every calibre.
FAQ 2: Material
“My casing is [collagen / cellulose / plastic / fibrous / natural casing]: which clip is the most suitable?”
The casing material determines the clip type (Standard, SZ smooth or T trapezoidal) and the characteristics of the inner profile. Every casing and clip combination requires a specific assessment.
FAQ 3: Machine
“I have a machine model X: which clips can I use?”
Based on the model and equipment of your machine, our technicians are available to answer any question you may have.

We support customers from clip selection through to machine compatibility, die recommendation and clipping trials, with technical assistance worldwide through our network of agents and partners.
